Valeriu Neagu, M.D.

Valeriu Neagu, M.D is an Endocrinologist who is currently working at the Integris Physician Group of Florida, where he is well-regarded for his evaluation and treatment of endocrinology pathology including adrenal, pituitary, parathyroid and metabolic bone disorders with main interests in diabetes and thyroid disorders.

Dr. Valeriu Neagu is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism . He received her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Romania. He went to complete his internship and residency in internal medicine at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Subsequently Dr. Neagu completed a fellowship in  Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism   at University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Neagu brings his experience of practicing five years in Oklahoma City and since 2019 serving the community here in Naples, where he cares for adult patients with endocrine disorders.

Valeriu Neagu received his Medical Doctor (MD) Diploma from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Timisoara, Romania in the year 2000, and secured a stellar License Examination.

Earlier, he achieved his Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mathematics and Physics from the National Banat College, Timisoara, Romania in 1994.

Contributions to the Field

Dr. Valeriu Neagu’s contributions are noteworthy in medical research as he has significantly improved patient outcomes. At the University of Illinois at Chicago, Dr. Neagu explored how managing blood sugar levels impacts the success of kidney transplants from 2009 to 2013. He studied both diabetic and non-diabetic patients and in 2007, at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, he investigated what affected vitamin D levels in veterans. Dr. Neagu also contributed to research on how to use new technology to measure long-term blood sugar control effectively. His current research interests revolve around vitamin D and calcium metabolism, as well as the relationships between diabetes and obesity. It’s safe to say that Dr. Neagu has significantly advanced our understanding in these critical areas.
